Tolani Eye Hospital was the vision of the Late Rev. Kaka Pribhdas Tolani, who was very unfortunate to lose his eye sight at the age of 72 years. The incident had a profound impact on his life and he vowed to set up a full fledged eye hospital. He chose the district of Kachchh, which at the that time did not have any eye care facilities and is prone to many eye related ailments due to its hostile climatic conditions. He established the hospital in the year 1984 with a single point mission. To achieve Excellence in Eye Care. From the very beginning the focus has been on providing quality eye care to the under-provileged population of Kachchh District.

After Kaka’s demise, his mission was carried forward by his elder daughter, Mrs. Jamvanti H. Kanal. She was ably supported in her endeavor by her younger sister Mrs. Anjana Hazari (Current President), who sacrificed a settled life in the US to further the noble cause of her father. She played a pivotal role in the reconstruction and re-commision of the hospital after the earthquake of 2001. Ever since she has been over the charge of the chairperson, she has been taking keen interest in the of hospital and her sincerity, honesty and constant motivation has morale booster for the doctors and staff of the hospital.

Setup as a Not-For-Profit Institution, Tolani Eye Hospital with the constant and generosity of its donor and patrons today boasts of being one of the trust hospitals in the entire district of Kachchh providing most modern eye treatment at a very nominal cost.On an average more than 100 patients suffering from various eye ailments visit hospital daily and are treated by a team of professionally qualified and well trained ophthalmic surgeons and staff. These patients mostly come from far off village from Kachchh District, who in the absence of this hospital would have incurred expenditure for getting the kind of treatment given to them at very nominal cost.
